Something Not Quite There

This song was a rather amazing little poem, typed up by the future Marc Kane at Morgan Hall on the University of Alabama campus.

Powerless and helpless

I am made to feel

Like a child in the dark of night

whirling spinning cycle of fear

why remove me from security

turning angrily

towards some unknown

always hoping to find

that which is out my backdoor

I catch a fleeting glimpse of something not quite there

something not quite there

something not quite there

I really love how the meaning alters subtly, depending on how you consider it punctuated/ phrased. There’s your author, on the right, The Marc Kane.

And I am flung across Time and Space

where am I?

Shadows cover my eyes

gasping for breath in Salem

or am I the last surviving Druid

trying to make them see their error?

For I am a babe in the womb of Mother Earth

I await my birth, anew

All past mistakes erased

Blank

A copy of experiences to be had

once more I am airborne

I feel the truth of my soul

safety dark and comforting

and I am rocking in the tides

torn out into oblivion

I am lost in the outer realm

Made to forget what once I knew

one more play to now retell

in hopes of encountering

All by myself

and I am pushed out into reality

I’m frightened by the sun,

night falls, binding me to fate

and I am an eccentric

smoking marijuana

bathed in the magic of Forever Summer

I am a star once more

hanging, winking in the sky.
